Ultimate Ascent is played with two alliances that are three robots each. The match begins with the 15-second Autonomous Period in which robots compete by shooting discs into goals of various heights independent of their drivers. After the autonomous period , the drivers take their stations and for a 2 minute and 15 second match, shoot and reload more discs. The higher the discs are shot, the more points are received. The match ends with the robots climbing up a metal pyramid. Robots must climb on their respective pyramid and the higher the robot climbs, the more points are awarded.
